For many years now Jadranka Jovanović has been a synonym for vocal art in Serbia and Montenegro and according to critic of the Messaggero Veneto from Trieste...she has everything that a genuine Primadonna should have...
Born in Belgrade (Serbia). In her native-town she graduated - B.A. in theory of music and solo singing, and M.A. in solo singing. She debuted as Rosina in Rossini`s  Il Barbiere di Seviglia at the National Theatre in Belgrade, where interpreted all main mezzo-soprano roles.
Her international career started at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan where she appeared in Carmen  and  Andrea Chenier , conducted by Claudio Abbado and Riccardo Chailly.
At the Scala she also appeared in the leading role in the world premiere staging of Orfeo by Luigi Rossi.
She mostly performed in Italian theatres, opera houses and festivals: Musical May in Florence: The Gambler  (by Sergey Prokofiev); TheDonizetti Festival in Bergamo: Fausta and The Diluge; in Parma: Falstaff (by A.Salieri); The Rossini Festival in Pesaro:  Moses in Egypt; Cagliari:  La Forza del Destino , by G. Verdi. The Operetta FestivalinTrieste:  The Countess Maritza  by  E.Kalman and  The little White Horse by Benachky, and in the same theater - Hari Janos - opera by Z. Kodally, and  Miss Juliette by Bibalo. In Rome (Teatro Argentino) and Milan (Teatro Carcano), she appeared with Hosé Carreras in a fantasy based on  Carmen; at the Massimo Bellini Theater in Catania in two operas: Il capello di paglia di Firenze (conducted by M. Arena)
and the  Countess of Czardas ; in Palermo –  Rigoletto .
 
She sang in various operas in other countries: as Abigaille, (Nabucco)  at the Georges Enesco Festival in Bucharest (Romania); in Hungary, (Gala Concert in at The Budapest Opera); Adalgisa in Norma in Bulgaria (Sofia); in France (Gala Concert and Rigoletto in Toulon, and Falstaff (A.Salieri) in Bordeaux); Czechoslovakia (Prague); Greece (Athens), etc. She also participated on the Gala Concert in Monterey dedicated to G. Rossini, and in Mexico City as Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
In Spain she appeared at the Teatro Liceo in Barceona in Adriana Lecouvreur with Mirella Freni and Placido Domingo, and Roberto Devereux (Donizetti), conducted by Richard Bonynge. In Lisbon she sang Elena in Mephistopheles by A. Boito and Mass in C-minor by W.A. Mozart. She achieved outstanding success at the Palm BeachOpera (USA), where she interpreted main roles in  Cinderella andL' Italiana in Algeri, also Eboli in  Don Carlo. In Rio de Janeiro she debuted in Verdi's Requiem and was newly selected to appear in  Il Barbiere di  Siviglia and  Adriana on Nassos (by R.Strauss), and in Carmen with P.Domingo. She appeared  as the protagonist in Carmen for two seasons at the Bunkha Theater in Tokyo.
Besides Domingo, M.Freni and Carreras, she performed on stage with great names such as: E.Marton, J.Baird, Elisabette Matos, E.Suliotis, L.Serra, D.Dessi, H.Cura, W. Matteuzzi, Ignacio Encinas, K.Kaludow, Robert Hale, P.Cappuccilli, Alain Fondary, R.Bruson, Eduard Tumagian, B. Giaiotti, P. Burchuladze and many others. Besides above mentioned conductors, J.Jovanovic also performed with maestros like: A.Guadagno, R.Muti, M.Soustrot, Giuliano Carella etc...
In last few seasons she made acclaimed success in Verdi's Don Carlo(Eboli) in Palm Beach (1999) under the button of maestro Anton Guadagno and the same role in Toulouse (2001/2). In the same theatrical season she made her first performance with Prague Simphonic Orchestra in Bedrich Smetana Hall, being a partner to tenor Peter Dvorsky and baritone Dalibor Jenis on the Christmas concert.
She sang a role of Giovanna Seymour in Donizetti's Anna Bolena, in seasons of 2002/3 in Belgrade Opera. This was followed by a guest performance of Belgrade Opera in Corfu', where she played title-role in Rossini' s Cenerentola.
In last few seasons she made acclaimed success in Verdi's Don Carlo(Eboli) in Palm Beach (1999) under the button of maestro Anton Guadagno and the same role in Toulouse (2001/2). Due to this stage and audience conquest, she got another invitation for guest performance in Toronto- April 2004. She sang Maddalena in Rigoletto at The Royal Theatre of Wallonie in 2004.
She will also sing this year in may in Cavalleria Rusticana at TheCairo Opera in Egypt.
  She gave a special joy to Belgrade audience by a multimedia spectacle Diva in personal in Centre Sava, with a whole spectre of innovations non seen so far in the field of classical music. J. Jovanović wasn`t satisfied with a classical presentation of opera concert music, so the author is at the same time the only performer of many solo-stage productions, out of which were singled out scene performance of gypsies songs from classical music, written by the greatest authors in the title Gypsies romancero. In the honour of centennial of Verdi`s death she performed a scene concert Verdi`s divas, and in the honour of bicentennial of Puschin`s birth she sang a whole series of his songs composed by greatest composers in a special scenery in which the audience sat with her on the Great stage of Belgrade National Theatre. For this play, called Puschiniana she received a special reward from the Russian Ministry of Culture, and The  National Theatre received the Medal from the same Ministry. Beside this she played a title-role, opera prima donna, in the film Signs, made by the novel of SerbianNobel Prize recipient Ivo Andric. As a special curiosity should be pointed out a performance of a double Vivaldi`s concert for two violins, with famous Serbian violinist Jovan Kolundzija, in which she performed a part of a second violin.
Numerous were her appearances in many radio and television shows, including guest appearances on RAI, Canale 5 and in a number of special shows dealing with her broad artistic work. Her theatrical performances have always been given due media attention.
